Sleep is tircksy

There are just some nights when sleep evades me.  I have this weird anxiety all pinned up and I can never put a name on it.  It's not quite insomnia, those of you know me know that I am world champion sleeper.  Once I fall asleep I generally have no troubles staying asleep and it takes a promise of a hot hot shower and nine cups of coffee to get me out of bed in the morning.  I dont know what it is.  I just call it sleep anxiety.  Its almost like I am afraid I am going to miss something if I give in to Brother Sleep...I feel a lot like a kid when these spells come over me.  Remember when Christmas was a little more magical and a little less exhausting? When you use to wonder that, while mother and father said Santa wasn't real....is that the jingle of a sleigh bell? Was that a boot on the roof? I use to get so excited thinking about the prospects of reindeer I'd would nearly make myself sick.  Imaginations are wild and beautiful things.  I only wish mine would silence itself for the night. Nine year old me did not have to be up at 730 in the morning!

Four times is once too much for luck...how about 2 then?

Hey kids,

2 posts in one day? That's how you know blog and I are still in our honeymoon phase.  I bet if I put a penny in a jar every time I blog this year and start taking them out every time I blog next year I'll never find the bottom. We'll see.

I just wanted to share some of my evening with you...its a photo blog post!

For Christmas my not yet fiance decided to help me take the first step in making easy remedies for what ales you.  Working at LUSH I have unearthed a passion for essential oils and all natural living that has seeped into my every day life.  All natural tooth paste, chemical, preservative and waste free lotions, and deodorants that let a girl sweat just to name a few.  Tonight I decided to start my endeavor by creating a little bath cocktail using the essential oils Jon got me, olive oil as a base and the dried flower petals from the flowers Jon sent me the day he proposed *all swoon*. I have attached a photo of the sachet of flowers and also the flowers as they looked the night he popped the big question.  I am missing him terribly, that may be what brought on such a (pathetically) heart felt bath time concoction.  Enjoy!

1/2 Cup Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil
5 drops all natural tea tree essential oil
7 drops all natural jasmine essential oil
10 drops all natural grapefruit essential oil
1 tsp coarse sea salt

for a lovely touch - 1 sachet of whatever kinda flowers ya got (we're not formal here...)

The research

The oils !

The finished product!

Aren't they lovely?

Today

Today I am home sick.  This always sounds better than it actually is.  My cat (Folly) and I have had the pleasure of spending the day together and she always enjoys my company even when no one else does.  She is the most talkative cat I've ever know, and I have known some chatty felines in my day. She is never too bashful to let me know when she needs or wants something.  This usually happens before dawn when I am in the deepest of sleeps but I guess thats what good parenting is- no deep sleep.

I hope to find out more about parenting in the semi-near future, which is exhilarating and terrifying all at once.  I am betrothed to a lovely gentleman and we will be saying our vows to a married life in July.  This day can not come soon enough.

I'm not sure what lead me to start a blog today...probably a happy combination being medicated and boredom but I'm sure finer things have started as a result of those two states.  Mostly I've had a few people who are dear to me say that I'm a nice writer and perhaps I should flex that muscle a little more frequently.  The only writing I really do is sending emails for work and while I'm sure they are composed very well indeed, I don't really write for fun any more and haven't for several years now.  I have found, in the past, that I sleep a lot better when my day consists of at least one thirty minute writing session.  I think my head needs to occasionally drain all that information and hubbub thats floating around in there.  For all of you Harry Potter people out there, this blog will be a bit of a pensieve (sp?) for my day to day.  While I am sure you have far better things to do than sit around on the internet reading the blog of an average twenty something girl, I assure you there will be the (at least) occasional aesthetically pleasing photo or witty antidote to enjoy.  In the mean time, I look forward to sharing life with those who are far away, as most of my loved ones are...I am terrible at and not particularly fond of or good at lengthy phone calls.

Until next time, cheers!
